I think he means that people aren't concerned about bad practices when it doesn't "affect" them.

Could be, though that's not the reason why they're aggressive.

I think the agressive part is because people will defend anything to "protect" their company of choice no matter what they did. Some will also assume that if you are agains't some practices it automatically means that you don't like said console/company... 

I don't think he was targeting SFV specifically. It was more of an example. One good example would be people defending always online console to play any games even the offline ones. Because they had good internet meant that it was a non issue forgeting that this could prevent other gamers to enjoy the hobby.
