People do seem to like it. I must confess this is perhaps one of the only times I've been happy to see a game struggle to sell as it should hopefully dissuade others from participating in this "timed exclusive" nonsense.

Nothing against the franchise itself mind you, but timed exclusives are my biggest pet peeve this gen... It serves no purpose (I doubt anyone chooses a console based on a game being available a bit earlier on one over another), alienates many fans and basically just engenders a lot of anger and frustration. That they did it to the Playstation fanbase that made the franchise the hit it is just made it even worse.

I suspect people will be far less willing to do a timed exclusive after seeing a quality, well known title pass relatively unnoticed. It's a practice that needs to go the way of the dodo.

I haven't heard any major public outcry over the Final Fantasy VII remakes timed exclusivity, but meh. it was dumb  to do the Tomb Raider deal but Microsoft had to have made them an offer they could not refuse, just like Sony opened their wallet to square for timed exclusivity of FFVII.

Yeah, I suspect that's because there's more ps4 owners than xbox1 (I.e. More noise) and final fantasy has almost always been exclusive to Playstation since they left nintendo (FFXIII being the recent exception), so I doubt it surprised anyone as opposed to Tomb Raider going to Xbox, which everyone associates with the playstation brand. It wasn't until recently that I even learned ffxiii made an appearance on the xbox360.

That said, it's still a shitty practice. I just don't see why they continue to do engage in this practice; what is really being gained?
