THE STEAM WINTER SALE WAS A BIG SUCCESS, EVEN WITHOUT FLASH SALES
http://www.pcgamer.com/the-steam-winter-sale-was-a-big-success-even-without-flash-sales/
The Steam Winter Sale wrapped up last week, and it was apparently a good one for all involved. Steam Spy estimates that the sale brought in “at least” $270 million in revenue, which is nearly double the amount rung up during the most recent Steam Summer Sale. Note that those figures are estimates based on incomplete data and, as site founder Sergey Galyonkin acknowledged on Medium, therefore “not 100 percent accurate.” But in a recap message posted in the private Steamworks group that somehow ended up on the SteamVR page, and from there to SteamDB (and has been verified by a developer who saw the original), Valve itself said that Winter Sale revenues were up significantly.
>>We can say goodbye to flash sales, then.

EPIC MISTAKENLY BLOCKS MAN WITH NAME ON US WATCHLIST
http://www.pcgamer.com/epic-mistakenly-blocks-man-with-name-on-us-watchlist/
Epic CEO Tim Sweeney has apologised to Muhammad Zakir Khan over Twitter after Khan was prevented from making an Epic account due to a hit against a US Treasury list of Specially Designated Nationals. The SDN list is a register of people and companies that US 'persons' (an exhausting legal umbrella term) are prohibited from dealing with, potentially due to involvement in terrorist financing, trafficking or money laundering, but also as part of US sanctions campaigns against specific countries. Or, in this case, people who want to play the Paragon beta.
BUS SIMULATOR 16 DELAYED
http://www.pcgamer.com/bus-simulator-16-delayed/
Bloody typical. Bus Simulator 16 is delayed, flaunting its credentials as number one public transport simulator. It's one drivers' strike and a man-spreader away from reality. Scheduled to arrive January 20, it will pull into the station March 2 instead.
