Sony Computer Entertainment confirmed that more than 35 million units of software were sold through to end users between November 23rd 2015 and January 3rd 2016. This number includes sales via digital download.
VGChartz have PlayStation 4 software sell through (retail only) at 42 million units between November 22nd and December 26th 2015. (This is with a week to go)
So it's very unlikely that VGChartz numbers are correct.
Another example,
Sony Computer Entertainment confirmed that 80.8 million units of software (inc Digital) had been sold through to end users as of the end of 2014. VGChartz, who only track retail sales have their number the same.
It seems to me that once again this is more proof not to trust the numbers here.
