This whole thing is 3DO all over again. I'm sure the people over at Sony were popping the corks as soon as the news hit and giving each other high fives.

I'm not sure how direct their competition will be as of yet... Oculus Rift seems like superior headset that enthusiasts will be getting, while the Sony VR should be popular will ps4 owners, especially if Sony's claim of having ~100+ games in development turns out to been true.

With the oculus rift not working on the ps4 and the Sony VR not working on the PC, I think the only real competition will be people deciding which to get first. I'm still rather undecided on that myself... Will have to review what games are available for each in the immediate future.

Either way, we ought to think of this hardware as being the first generation of true VR; the technology and experience will only improve. It should be of no surprise to anyone that it's proving expensive and I haven't the slightest clue why this Rift CEO was boneheaded enough to suggest it might be ~$350.
