It's a vile and disgusting comparison. The problem is we should be aiming to live in a society where someone who has drunken or drugged themselves into almost total incapacity is guranteed to be safe from any criminal interefereance. Yet those who say there is some fault on the part of the victim in these situations seem to be saying that they are quite fine with a society where safety can't be assumed and so one cannot hold the violator to be 100% responsible for any act of violence rape or abuse of someone who is too drunk / drugged to be able to defend herself or even say no. |
