Thats from the same firm too, its not even from two competitors.

 

Basically Oculus rifts costs wont nessarly have any correlation to the PS VR.

Differnt firms, differt design approachs (components), differnt design teams/goals, differnt contacts and perphaps contracts for components ect.

 

Abit to early to say that a 350$ cant happend.

Sure, they're different devices, but ultimately they're doing the same thing at a very similar level of fidelity from what I hear. The components can't possibly be all that far apart, unlike with a car.

Also, I would think that that ps4 vs Xbone would be a better analogy than your Toyota one. PS4 is better in pretty much every way, while still being cheaper for Sony to manufacture. The price difference still wasn't a factor of nearly 2:1, though.
