It seems that you trust a lot stat counter, it's a good tracker but not the best, (netmarkeshare is and you can search why) as for browsers don't take it as a gospel since it doesn't count unique users but number of visits...
For instance 1 person opens 1000 pages on ps4, 2 people open 100 pages on xboxone... For stat counter ps4 wiil be far above xbox one with its methology, despite more users browing on xbox one actually...
| StatCounter | NetMarketShare |
|---|---|
| records data from 3 million websites | analyzes data from 40 thousand websites |
| analyzes 17.5 billion page views per month | analyzes 160 million unique visits per month |
| make no adjustments or weightings other than removing bot activity and pre-rendering | applies country weightings according to CIA Internet Traffic data. For example, if Brazil accounts for 4% of global traffic but only 2% of NetMarketShare data, the results are doubled |
| is independent and has no commercial partners | is a commercial company with partners paying for data |
| reports are based on page views | reports are based on daily unique visitors |
Not that I doubt that ps4 dominates the (home) consoles browser wars, is the 8th gen (home) console and currently, the console market, hot thing, with that huge installbase which is more than double of its two rivals, ergo way bigger pool of possible users... I just call into question the numbers!
By the way do we know if that tracker includes handheld consoles? I guess not , seeing the console sales by vendor tracking... It has sony at 66%, microsoft 25% and Nintendo at 7%...3DS is at almost 60m.
However, even without the handheld consoles, tracking is still wrong... PS4 is at 35.9m (53%), xbox one at 18-19m (28%) and wii u at 12-13m (19%)! Definately, a tracking mess (it should have not include a section for consoles, at least not for operating os and sales by vendos since its methodology about them is lousy), where are the 7th gen (home) consoles numbers? In browsers section, it has ps3, xbox 360 and wii, in sales by vendor option it cannot have them (it seems it has them), with the market shares that shows, where are the 86-87m of xbox360 and 102 wii or a significant porportion of it), it wouldn't add up at all... Terrible!
The result of tracking page views and not unique users and going by console internet browsing tracking (especially with this deplorable methodology) to extrapolate operating system /sales by device vendor marketshare about consoles! lol between 2012 and 2013, it has Microsoft at zero.
By the way, you choose operating system (console) which is the same with sales by device vendor option in case of consoles, for talking about browsing... What? You mean that this option has cumulative number of browsers share by company? It says top 7 console OSs...
