Wow, a lot of you guys are overreacting, almost ridiculously so.
First and foremost, 10's aren't given out all that much, at least not from credible review sites (IGN, etc). Hell, GTA IV was the first 10 from IGN in almost 10 years.
The only other two games in the past year to receive ridiculously high scores have been BioShock and Super Mario Galaxy, both great games.
So to put it bluntly, a lot of you are being unfair. Because of the GTAIV situation, it seems no one is willing to accept any more near-perfect game reviews, despite the fact that MGS4 has been in development for four years, and is the ending to one of the more renowned franchises in gaming.
For comparison, and this has been brought up, movie reviews frequently get 5/5 stars.
Does that mean that the movie represented cinema at it's absolute peak?
No, it just means it was a damn good movie.
