I think Sony is in an excellent position to be VR for the (relative) masses. They have just one screen instead of two 399 and I think alot of people who once wanted a Rift would buy a PS4 and PSVR.
Oculus intends to sell hundreds of thousands of the CV1 which is quite frankly very realistic even at a higher price.
Sony might want to sell low Millions 2-5 of their PS VR and I think they can do that.
People who expect that VR will be dozends of Millions of Units anytime soon dont understand that the technology is not there yet.
In 10 years a wireless Rift which is way smaller with 180 FOV and 8k Resolution might be 299 and will have plenty of meaningful Apps and this will be the Massmarket success.
