Eventually they will reach a point where they will either scrape the scaps of non important battles/history or go with present/future times, either way the franchise is pretty milked at this point and it's really starting to show.
Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
