Unless you have MSDN, you just admitted to being a pirate and proved half why so many build costs are wrong (for people that aren't douchebag pirates).
To get a legit version of a current OS it usually costs $100-150. |
This only applies for Windows or the Redhat Version of Linux though. Any other Linux distribution and SteamOS (which is based on Linux) are free

You cant beat something which is massivley produced and aimed at making profit with the software instead hardware espacially when it comes to built quality, so i dont understand why PC gamers in this thread try to downplay it and say you can built a PC for the same money like a PS4. for 350 bucks the PS4 is an undenaible beastly cheap package if you can also run a PC OS on it, even you must admit it. - it can play blue ray and DVDs - it can play physical PS4 games on an offline account - you get a nice Controller which would otherwise cost 70€, its also possible to plug in USB extansion for having more USB ports - it has a very compact formfactor try to buy a PC with the same size and built quality It would be a great secondarry PC in the living room, and if PC games cold run as well on the PS4 it would be a Killer deal. |
How do you get to 70$/€ for a controller? Even a wireless Xbox ONE controller for Windows only costs 45-50€/$, and 360 controllers even for just 30€/$. And yes, these are the official ones from Microsoft, not third party knockoffs.
You can build PC which are just as compact as a PS4 with similar product quality. Here's a pretty good one which also includes PSU and a cardreader: https://www.alternate.de/Chieftec/FI-02BC-U3-Desktop-Gehäuse/html/product/1104207?tk=7&lk=8353 It does limit the size of graphics cards however to low profile cards, which are comparatively weak.
