And we are a far cry from our stone age days, so why would that matter?
Because we are not talking about logical reasoning but attraction. And the most logical explanation for attraction is still the search for good genetical material for procreation.
Besides as long as physical attraction in society is based on a healthy body image. (Not too thin but not fat, sporty etc.) its a good thing for the health. Wanting to be attractive can be a huge incentive for staying fit.
