There is a french saying that litterally translates as "When you love you don't count." (Quand on aime on ne compte pas)

If companies had to be upfront about native resolutions it would be detrimental for games that are beautiful despite lower resolution, framerate or triangle counts.

I thought resolution doesn't matter? Why would it be detrimental if the only people who care are the #pcmasterrace who don't own any consoles anyway?

If every games were to show "native 1080p/60fps" on their box, it would suddenly become a big deal when this one other game only states 720p or even nothing.

The very moment people see a big number on a product's packaging it becomes a great deal.

Maybe because it is a big deal and people are concerned about it after every game company fed the public with the lie that the current gen consoles are super powerful. Of course an educated public is always bad for companies, that's why they love to keep us dumb and hold back information as much as possible.

That's why we need to protect companies. Next thing you know is government forcing food manufacturers to print on their product what's in the box!
