I mean tell me?At this point, Tomb Raider will be a frozen IP because the damage has been done thanks to the holiday exclusivity they did last year. It's not about exclusivity, though. It's just fixing brand perception. If Square sells Tomb Raider or Crystal to Sony since they get to do with games up their alleys. Ehh why? Uncharted didn't need to sell 10M to become successful too. If SE sells Tomb Raider to Sony then it's their right to keep things exclusive. I Plus a smaller release means lower budget And ND is a master at tight budget management without quality sacrifice. And Sony could fix the continuity issues with Uncharted because ND's 1st team or whatever team will probably be focusing on TLoU. Plus it's cool if Lara and Nate crossover too. It's a win-win imo. |
I'd like to name some but I feel we're not going to get anywhere by doing so (You sound very on point with only ND being the single known devs in the entire industry of thousands of devs).
Beforehand TR wasn't doing well until CD tepped in some years later, other devs can do the job without having to be bought up by a console company.
Well you claim it's not about exclusivity and yet Sony owns ND and the team, if they bought CD and the TR franchise then that would make it exclusive to Sony which means it is about exclusivity and not about it's rep, if it was about a games rep then pull a SFV (which is pulling a move similar to TR currently anyway by denying other platforms which does sully it's image to other crowds like it or not). "SE sells Tomb Raider to Sony then it's their right to keep things exclusive", then you do want it to become exclusive and make it a thing for their side than simply "repairing" it;s image so all can play it, again that just won't bode well for the franchise in total if you take a once multiplat franchise and make it exclusive to just one console, just imagine the massive uproar that you'd get if Sony snatched the Fallout or ES franchise.
End of the day you just don't perma stach a multiplat franchise to make it exclusive to a console. If budget control is your main concern then hire better people who handle and dispense with said budgets along with technologies that don't cost you your very soul.
You think it's a win-win, I think it's a lose-lose because it kills a multiplat franchise and it kills interest for fans on other systems, if you think it's good to take a multiplat franchise and make it exclusive then I think it;s good for other franchises to go exclusive to other systems, including PC if we wish to think such a stance is objectively good for everyone.
Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
