Quarter 4 usually has a big first party game, this year they failed to deliver that very thing. It was supposed to be Uncharted 4 or Ratchet and Clank. But neither has released during the final quarter. In therms of sales they got away with it fine though due to the high amount of anticipered third party titles. |
This was better for Sony though as they would have been up against Fallout 4, BO3, Battlefront, and other big releases. Uncharted would have taken a hit like Halo 5 did and Ratchet would have been eaten alive. The JRPGs released were largely unaffected because they cater to a much different audience than those games. I would much rather have steady releases through the year than a jam packed holiday everytime.
Trust me, this is MUCH better for Sony in the grand scheme of things.
