If you're looking for space 4X I recommend Galactic Civilizations II over Endless Space. I'd even recommend GC 3, but I don't know how big a fan of 4X games you are and it still needs some work and it is more expensive.

As I said before I'm not that much into 4x games... althought I could say that for almost every genre I play.
