I was commenting on you saying soundscan numbers don't matter, and there's a market just because they continue to sell them. That isn't even justification enough for DLC in Rock Band or another DLC equipped music game. There needs to be a large enough market to even consider japanese tunes, because there's other more lucrative markets they haven't even tapped yet which should logically come first, like say hispanic rock, reggae, etc.

When did I use any variation of "don't matter"? If you read my comment properly, you would see I just meant that soundscan numbers aren't needed to prove there is a market for selling albums, since those albums are being sold.

If proving there is a market for a game, then numbers would be needed, but that was not your question. Your question was solely on album sales. Unless you meant to prove there is a market for games, but then your question was not that clear on that point.

I've already made it clear that I understand there's a market for this music. (1) There's a market for every kind of music in the US. I don't believe there's enough of a market for Singstar, American Idol, Guitar Hero or Rock Band to consider DLC for japanese music at this time because it would not sell enough to bother with development. (2) That is all I'm saying. It is not a lucrative market to tap as there are many less risky genres of music to add to those games that would almost guarantee a profit. (3)

1. Not clear enough for me.

2. How much would it cost just to map a few songs to game mechanics?

3. You ask me for sales figures, but you're presuming there isn't a market, without providing any figures yourself.

You are claiming the risk and viability of the market, therefore you have the burden of proof. So don't ask for those figures if I'm not the one making assumptions.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
