I have to disagree here. It is better quality wise and as a product of course, vut as a Star Wars movie it does not compare. The opening and closing sequence s in Phantom Menace are better than any part of TFA, including the "forced" scene of someone's obvious death. TPM also had better adventure, which TFA failed at.

Matter of preference really. Only Sith is in anyway a decent movie out of the prequels in my opinion. Phantom and Clones have a few nice moments, but that's it. As movies, they just don't hold up for me.

It's not about preference but about which represent the SW universe better as movies. Of course old movies don't hold up to new movies but it was the same when the prequels came out. Most people praised them, especially The Phatom Menace whichcwas the first and only SW movie to gross over 1 billion. People will say the same about TFA after the hype dies. TFA is just an average movie using the SW name like the Terminator movies after T2.
