You would most likely be better off buying a brand that gives you good value rather than going for a steam machine since it already gives you windows ... 

OpenGL plain sucks as evidenced by the benchmarks and even if that gets solved by the likes of another graphics API such as Vulkan there's still the issue of developer support ... 

No matter what, the idea of steam machines has everything going against it ...
