What videogame sequels you think ended up screwing what was done in the orginal?

The N64 ruined Nintendo as far as 3rd party goes and it's a terrible sequel to arugably the best console of all time with 6 month game doughts, no RPGs, lacking 3rd party, 1 relevant fighter (Smash) coming from (FFVI, Chrono Trigger, ALTTP, Secret of Mana, Super Metroid, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter ect) and regulated Nintendo to a secondary console or a casual console. Other than that the Xenosagas games were very bad compared to Xenogears.
