Highest on Metacritic vs. Game with most GOTY awards

I don't agree. Reviews are done by 1 person at the publication, usually by someone who's either already a fan of the series or a fan of the genre. GOTY take into account the opinions of all the editors.

 

That also means that the more people who have played a game, the more likely it is to win. For instance, last year Gamespot's Wii U GOTY was Mario Kart 8 because only 2 or 3 of them had played Bayonetta 2.
