considering the userbase on the Wii U its exclusives sell insanely well
having 50% of userbase buying certain games practically always is pretty wild. the other poster is right in that Nintendo can find comfort with that. if they have a system that's even double as successful as the Wii U next generation then (if the trends continue) their software numbers will be killer again
Nintendo always has done a great job at selling a lot of software regardless of if their console is at the top or not. bear in mind they made MORE from their video game division in practically every generation than their competitors have been capable of. I don't even think Microsoft has ever really made profit from the Xbox. even in the era of the GAMECUBE vs. PS2, despite selling like 1/5 (or less) hardware Nintendo made more money from then than Sony did with the PS2.
