Nope. I feel Tales gets nostalgia goggles where it really shouldn't.

The series has always been middle-of-the-road. It's got fun combat, predictable characters, a nice soundtrack and an interesting world. It's comfortable and you know what you're getting with it. In that respect, it's really no different now than when Symphonia was coming out.

For me personally, I think the series has been increasing in quality over the last few entries. Xillia was better than Graces; Xillia 2 was better than Xillia 1 and Zesteria was better than Xillia 2. Where I felt Zesteria fell down was the story and in particular the ending, and in that respect all I think they need to do is give each game a little longer in development - Zesteria's problems could've easily been sorted that way.

So no, I definitely don't think it needs a break. I'm actually quite proud mid-tier JRPG's like this and Atelier can live on in today's gaming environment and if they need to be yearly to do that, then great.
