WORLD OF WARSHIPS GETS SCI-FI ANIME MODE

http://www.pcgamer.com/world-of-warships-gets-sci-fi-anime-mode/

I checked we hadn't hit April 1 twice before writing this: World of Warships and the anime series Arpeggio of Blue Steel are doing some sort of cross-overy, probably-not-historically-accurate tie-in.

BLIZZARD RELEASES "WE ARE OVERWATCH" THEATRICAL TEASER

http://www.pcgamer.com/blizzard-releases-we-are-overwatch-theatrical-teaser/

The Overwatch closed beta remains off the air for now, and may not be back for awhile: mid-to-late January hopefully, but later if necessary. So here's a "We Are Overwatch" theatrical teaser to stave off the shakes while you wait.

IMAGES OF THE HTC VIVE HEADSET AND CONTROLLERS LEAK

http://www.pcgamer.com/images-of-the-htc-vive-headset-and-controllers-leak/

Virtual reality is set to kick off in a big way in 2016, and although the HTC Vive VR headset isn't going to be coming out until April, some leaked images have given us an early glimpse of what the consumer version is likely going to look like.

SCI-FI HORROR GAME ROUTINE IS TAKING LONGER THAN ANYONE EXPECTED

http://www.pcgamer.com/sci-fi-horror-game-routine-is-taking-longer-than-anyone-expected/

I get excited whenever I hear something new about the deliciously System Shock-esque space horror game Routine. And so over the past three years, that means I've been excited about it at least, oh, two or three times. Development has not been what you'd call lightning-quick, and Lunar Software hasn't exactly been generous with news, either. But the team said in its recent December update (which also just happens to be the second update of 2015) that things are going slower than expected, but they are still going.

KEN LEVINE'S NEXT GAME WILL BE BOTH "SMALL-SCALE" AND OPEN WORLD

http://www.pcgamer.com/ken-levines-next-game-will-be-both-small-scale-and-open-world/

Ken Levine has some hugely impressive games to his credit: Thief, System Shock 2, and of course BioShock and BioShock Infinite. None of them are exactly what you'd call small games, but it sounds like his next project will be. Levine said during an On Point segment on NPR (via Gamespot) that while nothing is carved in stone at this point, Irrational is currently working on a "sort of a small-scale open-world game."

LIFE IS STRANGE DEMO DEBUTS ON STEAM

http://www.pcgamer.com/life-is-strange-demo-debuts-on-steam/

We declared Life is Strange a pretty good game in our October review. "Uneven" is how Phil put it; not as well-polished or paced as some of Telltale's games, like The Walking Dead, but "powerfully affecting at its best." That's not an unequivocal recommendation, but there's clearly a lot about it to like, which is why it's nice that there's now a demo on Steam.

BLOOD BOWL 2 IS GETTING FOUR NEW RACES, FREE IF YOU ALREADY OWN THE GAME

http://www.pcgamer.com/blood-bowl-2-is-getting-four-new-races-free-if-you-already-own-the-game/

I don't see why you'd ever need another Blood Bowl race when you already have the Skaven, but four more fantasy races are making their way to murderous strategy football title Blood Bowl 2 anyway. Those races comprise the Norse, Undead, Nurgle and Necromantic units, and as I don't know much Warhammer, I have no idea what a 'nurgle' is, but it sure sounds funny.

EVERSPACE CONTINUES TO LOOK FANCY IN NEW TRAILER

http://www.pcgamer.com/everspace-continues-to-look-fancy-in-new-trailer/

'Gameplay' is a meaningless, junk word most of the time, although it can help to distinguish between CGI, live-action, faked, and actually-in-game trailers. I can't fathom what it means in the following context, however—that context being the title of the new trailer for (stonking space roguelike) Everspace.

DIABLO 3 VIDEO PREVIEWS PATCH 2.4 LOOT

http://www.pcgamer.com/diablo-3-video-previews-patch-24-loot/

Last week we reported that Diablo 3's patch 2.4 would bring with it a new zone for Adventure mode: Greyhollow Island. This being Diablo and all, new challenges mean new loot. Fountains of the stuff. Blizzard's follow-up blog post has unveiled some of the fifty legendary items and powers that will be arriving with 2.4.

THE GTA ONLINE FESTIVE SURPRISE IS LIVE

http://www.pcgamer.com/the-gta-online-festive-surprise-is-live/

The GTA Online community has been speculating for days at what this year's Festive Surprise would contain and when it would arrive. The latter question Rockstar answered by accident in the terms and conditions for the Festive Surprise Snapmatic Photo Challenge: today, December 21. The 'what' isn't exactly what people were anticipating.

GOG OFFERING 75% OFF ITS ENTIRE BETHESDA CATALOGUE

http://www.pcgamer.com/gog-offering-75-off-entire-bethesda-catalogue/

After PayPal leaked that the Steam winter sale ought to start tomorrow, I guess GOG felt that we needed to warm up our wallets first. Wouldn't want the debit card to be too hard to remove from its pouch, after all. Today, GOG's entire library of Bethesda games is 75% off, and most of those games are timeless classics.
