I honestly don't know how you can teach atheism.

"Ok class, today we're going to learn about atheism.  Some people do not believe that any gods exist.  And ummmmmmm.... huh... I guess that's it..."

Perhaps talking about stereotypes, history of atheists, disadvantages atheists have, etc etc.

You can also talk about why they don't believe in god and whatnot.

Eh... I don't think that kind of stuff would work.  Atheists aren't a group in the sense muslims are jews are or whatever, and I'm not sure what atheist history would entail.  I don't think the reasons people don't believe in god should be discussed by teachers.  I have no problem with posing the question to students about whether or not god should be believed in, but no government employed agent should be supplying the answer.

As an atheist I wouldn't want it to be taught in school.  It'd be a total waste of time to me.  I'd rather that time be spent teaching critical thinking, skepticism, the scientific, and the importance of secularism.  Much more important imo.
