I'd love to tout that in my country things are better, but sadly they are not.
I remember being excited about religion lessons in school as a kid, being eager to learn about Shintoism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism and the Islam.
I expected at least the major practised religions to be present and would have appreciated if they had tought us about the dead ones like ancient greek and rome religions as well as the viking and egyptian gods as well (there's also the Maya and other native American religions, but I'm not sure how much we know about those in detail).
It turned out, that all we did was learn some (to me at least) obscure Bible lessons that i don't remember much at all about and being bored out of my mind because it was all so christianity centric.
This is not something that should be tought at a state school in a secular country. It should be about learning as much about as many religions as possible. Comparing and contrasting and analyzing what draws people to certain religions (in certain time contexts) and away from others. In this context it can also be very beneficial to disscuss atheism and forced atheism as well.
This christianity centric approach to religion education in public schools has to stop, it has no place there. Christianity should be one religion among many we learn about in school.
