I think it's obvious now, especially since Sakurai's great friends with Kojima. Heck he even retweeted Kojima's tweet on moving on from Konami and going on his own with Sony. At this point, Snake's return was unlikely when DLC was being developed and I am not sure if he'll return in any future installments of the Smash franchise.
