What I would consider the top five gaming 'tragedies' of the last decade....

1. Final Fantasy 13 existing, and then clouding the room with farts and sequels.
2. Silent Hill going through such a terrible period, and just as it's about to resurface with a new creative team... Konami collectively starts acting like a bitch.
3. Mascot abuse. Mega Man was stuck on third shift and mostly forgotten. Sonic has increasingly outlandish makeup plastered on his face and put on seedy street corners. Spyro is stuck in a toy game ghetto. Crash has been so buried that he may not even surface for his 20th anniversary. Samus went from silent armored-up badass to an annoying hot thing in blue plastic wrap.
4. The death of mid-tier game development. Now it's AAA or indie, very little in-between.
5. The PC & mobile-ification of console gaming. Patches ("we can tweak games post-launch" became "we can release broken bullshit!"), DLC ("we can do expansions on consoles!" became "we can lock an sell on-disk content day one!"), and Microtransactions (...I got nothing here, this was always garbage; we used to unlock cosmetics, not pay for them).
