It use to be racing games, but past 5 years or so have been wasteland for the genre for me. Gone are days of fun couch co-op racing a friend. Pretty much only racing game had fun with in recent memory is Mario Kart 8.
Given that Football via FIFA has become best sport/party game to have a fun evening with some friends. Playing 1v1 or 4 people v CPU is a blast even if you're playing an iteration that is a few years old.
Also, I agree about skate games. I love THPS 1-4, but after that have not enjoyed a skating game. Same with SSX after Tricky.
