So you want to tell me i should keep giant pc towers for every version of windows? = no space and no $$$. If PCs BC is so great why it cant run its own pc games on every version of windows? Switching to older OSs like XP is annoying and tedious, until it boots up i can hook a new console on my TV. PC is the ultimate platform when it comes to hardware but not when it comes to software. Its not about this box vs this box, its about games and which one is a better foundation to make a library. PC gamers say console gaming is not a good investment because youre stuck to hardware limitations, this thread is my answer to that. Physical console games > steam games |
It really pains me how uninformed you are.
Not every PC has to be a tower. There are enough PC options that are smaller than any console. Also as I said if you want to have perfect compatibility then you can have a single PC with all OS installed at once. You only need to reboot to switch OS. But not even that will be necessary in the future since virtualization is advancing greatly and soon you will be able to properly play all games on virtualized platforms.
But not even that is really necessary. The amount of games that cannot be run on a current OS you can count on one hand. PC is versatile and for the vast majority of games there are patches and tools to make them run on newer OS.
My other points still stand. You say you don't have space for multiple PCs, but do you have space for all the consoles you must possess to have your precious perfect BC? I can build you a PC that is smaller than any of the current consoles that will run virtually all games of Gen 1-6.
Then you go on and pretend that steam games are not physical which is just plain wrong. Guess where they are stored on. Yes, physical hardware. The only difference is that you can store a huge number of games on a single storage device that can be backed up an infinite number of times so you will never lose a single game you ever purchased. How is that going to work with optical discs? One scratch and it's gone, no chance to backup unless you buy the same copy multiple times. Not really a good option for people who like to collect and store old games. Optical media is long outdated and inferior to all other storage mediums.
The only argument you really have is money. But money is not an argument when you're talking about collectors who spend unholy amounts of money on games and consoles anyway.
Yes you have no arguments left. Why is that? Because of your ignorance of another medium. The same reason why you are unable to properly use PCs. But what do I care, hating on something you don't understand are medieval practices and I shouldn't even talk to peasants.
