This is pretty much what I do and wouldn't mind Nintendo doing, I mean for the longest time they have been in their own little bubble while trying not to become an exact replica of the other two companies (which would be annoying to have all 3 being exactly the same for everything). I;d rather they work on their own games but I would love if their systems in the future came with a bit more power and used a regular gamepad but sell the innovative ones on their own.
Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
