BUT developers starting creating games way BEFORE console got launched in every region. And GAMES all is matter. Because games make effect on hw sales. I mean, if PS2 was launched in march 2000, and MGS2 came in November 2001 after 21 weeks since launch, IT DOESN`T matter, if PS2 was launched in USA only in October 200, because game was in developement since PS2 launch or even earlier. Same for PS3, if it was launched in November 2006, and MGS4 came in June 2008 after 19 weeks since launch of PS3, it doesn`t matter that PS3 was launched in Europe only in march 2007. |
We're talking about installed base, which shows us how customers are receiving the products. Your point may be correct but it's irrelevant in this context. The fair way to compare aligned launches is still to do it per-territory.
Let's take an extreme fictional example which illustrates my point - imagine there was a little island with 1000 inhabitants. The PS3 gets launched in that place first, while the 360 gets launched in Japan first, and vice-versa a few months later (you can replace the names of the consoles with whatever you want). What's going to happen to your global aligned launch comparison?
