I know a lot of people disagree but I firmly believe there is a sizeable potential demographic of people who are interested in a type of middle ground between freemium mobile titles and $60 AAA console titles.
The likes of Apple/Amazon/Google have made a sort of half-assed attempt at doing this with Apple TV/Fire TV/Nexus Player but the execution has been poor and these devices are basically Netflix boxes that can play mobile games.
If done right and with big-hitting, multimillion selling franchises, I think a $150 or so device with primarily $10-30 software can be successful.
Since Apple/Amazon/Google haven't been able to capitalize yet with their microconsoles/streaming boxes, I think Nintendo has a chance to make this their market.
$150 handheld along with a $150 console that share games with an emphasis on $10-30 software (obviously Nintendo's big budget franchises can still sell for higher) can potentially form a nice middle ground between mobile & consoles.
When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.
