Any character can be interesting. Just look at characters like Fox and Falcon, which had to be built from scratch for Smash, or Villager, who wasn't even a fighter in the first place. I like how they try to keep all newcomers unique and stuff, but Corrin just felt too unique, to the point where he just looked like a huge pile of weird and stupid gimmicks.

Donkey Kong and Star Fox should have had more representation, and it's clear that characters like K. Rool, Dixie Kong and Wolf would have been fine additions. Hell even Krystal, as much as I hate her, could have been a solid character. It's harder to pick with Metroid, since there's not a lot of characters in that franchise that would work in Smash, but Dark Samus could be a nice addition if done properly (read: not be a Samus clone).

As for Zelda, I understand how they're going for consistent characters in the franchise and are avoiding one-timers, but even then there are great picks that were consistent in the franchise, such as Impa and Ganon.

A character like Dhalsim seemed too unique when he first showed up as do many fighting characters so I don't get this point of view at all as his unique approach is welcomed especially for competitive play.

It's all well and good demanding more representation and in a perfect world we would get that but again you haven't really stated how they could add what DK and Diddy or Fox and Falco don't. Right now I can only think of Wolf as he had a unique approach but other characters are likely not their because as of now the's nothing they can add to the selection

Smash may be a fan service IP but now it's also a more serious competitive fighter and tbh they've maintained a good blance in S4, the days of expecting them to add anyone just to represent a series is now over.
