DISCUSSION: Video game Inspiration.

Ok so I'm interested to see if a video game has ever inspired you to do something in your real life or got introduced you to new things or maybe even go out to learn something new.

It could be something small or something big. 

I say this because I find that video games not only give me an enjoyable indoors hobby but they've also sometimes craved my interest in things that are in the video games.

Some of my examples are Mass Effect, a game I massively enjoyed but also craved my interest in space. Not in the hope there's mass relays to transport us across the galaxy, but just generally the stars and planets, ever since playing ME I've learned about many constellations, I've bought myself a £400 telescope and attachments for my Nikon DLSR camera to do Astrophotography. 

Another one was SSX tricky, if people don't know what this is it's a old popular snowboarding game and was great fun to play. Any ways this game also triggered me to take up snowboarding as a hobby and I begged my parents to pay for me to go on a snowboarding course at a real snow Indoor slope about 40 miles from where I live, I've now been snowboarding for 10 years and have been to the French Alps twice but I mostly go to indoor slopes. I don't own a snowboard but I do own my own ThirtyTwo brand snowboard boots.

More smaller ones are Battle of Asgard, a PS3 game which wasn't very popular but after playing it, I was interested to learn about Norse mythology and ended up getting really interested in the depth of it that I read through 4-5 books learning about it. 

I more recently this year Life is Strange, I've always been into Heavy Metal music real loud stuff, I love it. But I found while playing Life Is Strange (one brilliant game by the way) that I was really enjoying the mellow soundtrack of acoustics and pianos. I went onto see who done the tracks and its now introduced me to a new sound of music, I still listen to Heavy metal and punk, but I now find myself chilling out sometimes to these new genres of music.

So has anything video games related ever peaked your interest to go out and do things or learn things?
