And so was DX11 while OpenGL was open, and that didn't stop DX11 to be the most used of both solutions.

I'm still keeping my hopes up that Vulkan and OpenGL will end DX one day.

 

That will depend on the devs and which one is earier to use, that's why DX11 won. Now, with more games being ported to Linux and even MacOS, things could change but, as the table that Conina has posted shows, it doesn't look promising.
