I agree with the OP. My cell phone plays games. My IPod plays games. The Zune plays games. The I-Phone plays games. None of these compete directly with the DS or PSP.

I had a thread a long time ago that asked if you really wanted a Wii, and got a PS3 or 360, would you feel your needs were met? How about vise-versa?

The answer across the board was no. If someone really wanted a 360 or PS3, and got the other one, it would be a tuff call to spend $500+ to get what your missing from the one you didn't get. Not true with the Wii vs HD consoles.

Now there are people who want both, but that's because those target audiences overlap, not because they are the same audience. I also want a cell phone, and a PSP ;)

Your poll is absolutely meaningless. I could go on and on about why it is completely unscientific, and irrelevant to any real discussion if you want, but there is no reason for me to post it again if you won't bother reading it a second time. You have almost none of the requirements to make the poll valid.

Cell phones do not get major support from third party developers, but consoles do. Theere are only so many developent resources that can be thrown around to make games, and those resources are being divided between the Wii, DS, PSP, 360, and PS3. The goal of 3 of those consoles is purely to get big name games on their system to help sell software. So long as the Wii and DS can steal games away from the there is direct competition.
