First of all communication skills is not the same as book writing skills.
Part of the problem is book reviewers are predominently male and books by male authors are preferred by publishers.
But perhaps men are better at staying focussed on a single plot line and books by women are too complex for men to read :)
It's even worse in tv than in book.
