You skipped the greatest gen in gaming history? For shame.
But yeah, I get what you're saying. I have spent more money than I'd like to admit because I wanted shiny trophies. Also, it encourages me to continue playing the game, because I'm dumb.
Anyway, people should play games however they desire. I usually play games on PC when I want to play in shorter sessions, in window mode, and if I want to play with keyboard and mouse, but I play games on console if I want to play games for longer sessions or if I want to use a controller. While I'm sure that doesn't make sense to a lot of people, it makes sense for me, since I have a job where I am basically never either not doing work or procrastinating doing work.
