Who thought releasing this alongside Fallout 4 was a good idea?

"The challenge with Tomb Raider is if you go a week later you’re against Star Wars Battlefront, if you go a week earlier you’ll be against Call of Duty Black Ops 3 and if you go two weeks earlier you’re against Halo. And then you go late and then you’re like well, the consumer doesn’t have any money left to buy the game so there wasn’t a better scenario for us except that was the week it was not going head to head against Call of Duty or Star Wars Battlefront. We felt like the Fallout audience-they are not direct competitors per se, but you are right, it’s two big, big titles launching at the same time and we hope people will buy both.”

He has a point but in my opinion the moment Uncharted delayed they should have delayed Tomb Raider, the 'people have no money' argument doesn't wash once you get to Feb/March, and the original intent was for TR to go up against UC4. If they had done that I think it would have been a lot more successful, but obviously it would have excluded it from the 'greatest holiday line-up in Xbox history' shtick that MS based their holiday marketing around.

End of the day, I worry that this has permanently damaged the TR franchise reboot. Look at most big franchises, it takes a few games to get it established. TR2013 was a great game, ROTR seems like an even better game, but if few people play it, then how much excitement/loyalty can SE count on for the sequel?
