For me, 2014.

I liked bits of 2012, but it was too "look western AAA!" and lacked a lot of quality. Gravity Rush; LBP; SSDD & LBP were good but the rest I could take or leave. Lacking in Japanese games.

2013 was a decent year - it was the last of the western AAA (Killzone/Tearaway) and was the start of the indie push with some great titles (Hotline Miami/Flower/Proteus). However, I felt it was kinda lacking Japanese titles again, outside of Dragon's Crown, Atelier & EDF.

2015 has been a bit of a dud for me. Steins;gate/Oreshika/Lost Dimension were great, and it's recovered in the final months with Bastion/LoH. But there were long runs where it was quiet and some games were let-downs for me, like DanganRonpa & Sword Art Online.

But 2014 was fab. Kicked off with a bang in Europe getting the localizations from the end of the year before (Ys/Sorcery Saga) straight into NISA's two surprises of the year (DanganRonpa/Demon Gaze), both of which I loved and didn't expect to. Got some great indies during that time like TxK and Fez. Then during the summer we had the HD Collection ports (GoW/Sly/Ratchet) and Borderlands for the last real bit of AAA on the console then tailing off into autumn/winter the localizations kicked in again - Sword Art Online/Tales/Akiba's Trip/DanganRonpa 2/Neptunia 1 etc.

I loved so many games in 2014. Unfortunately I do think it's the console's peak year and although I'm excited for stuff in 2016, I don't think it's ever again going to have the broad range of titles it had in 2014.
