I had a debate with a user, can't remember who, who predicted that Rise of the Tomb Raider will sell around 200k for the month. I was convinced it wouldn't flop that hard. Guess I was wrong and to who I had the debate with you were right.

How did it flop this bad, the signs were there but MS had the power to make this sell. It had the exclusive gloss, it was coming off the back of a succeessful reboot, it had its own bundle, it was releaseing in a peak part of the year and somehow it this happened. That article about MS and SE being happy with sales is a load of bullshit.

A retailer exclusive bundle, which means MS couldn't even be bothered making enough cardboard boxes to be able to make the bundle available through all retailers. Instead MS chose to prioritise its cardboard box making on to all other hardware skus and RoTR cardboard boxes were at the back of the queue. They needlessly slapped the game into a 1TB Xb one which immediately made it uncompetitive with its own 500GB hardware bundles. MS did pretty much everything it could to convince Xb one buyers to choose something other than the RoTR bundle. And all game marketing effort went into FO4 which meant bugger all existing Xb one owners were really looking out for the game come launch time, because they all had Fallout shoved in their face.
