True - PS2 had the best exclusives back then (GTAIII etc). But that's what I meant by it being an old fashioned way of moving hardware. It hasn't worked since the PS2 days. I think if you launched something that much more powerful than a PS4 now and marketed it right (another one of Nintendo's weak points) you could do really well. Also, just like the OG XB, they'd be behind the 8-ball by launching so much later than the PS4. I doubt they can outsell it, but they can do so much better than the Wii U. |
No. Contrary to what people think, power doesn't mean anything to the mass market. What's important to them is price and what their friends have. And the reason we no longer see their part exclusives isn't cause its an old fashioned way of moving consoles. Its cause games became that much more expensive to make. Publishers had to get their money from wherever they could.
The more the PS4s gap over the XB1 increases the more likely we start seeing more and more games being console exclusive to the PS4. Nintendo NX will fail if Nintendo doesn't get every major third party game on their console. The mass market isn't going to buy your console just for exclusives, rather they would buy it cause in addition to the exclusives, they get everything else. So look at it this way, no GTA6, COD...etc. Nintendo will be dead on arrival. unless they somehow pull off another Wii stunt.
