Sub 200k?! Hooooly shit what was Square/Enix thinking? This deal is a fiasco beyond anything I've seen in gaming.

VGC puts RoTR at ~248K for the month, which includes the official bundle, which is not counted by NPD. So VGC is not terribly far off with RoTR, unless RoTR is waaaay under 200K. But I imagine if people at saying <200K then that means definitely more than 150K.

But the point is, this is a terrible result for RoTR either way and whoever suggested SE should have had a release early on PS4 clause in the exclusivity contract is dead right, and SE would have been as stupid a shit not to have a ballbreaker clause like that. The question is whether SE already has the PS4 version ready to go. Well the other question is whether even decent PS4 sales would be able to keep the franchise alive. Can PS4+PC combine to make the game decently profitable and secure a 3rd post-reboot game? I'm not certain. Terrible, awful, stupid, short-sighted decision.

I'm not sure if PC+PS4 can save it. It will sell considerably better, yes, but I don't think the IP will die, it'll be put back on ice to be rebooted yet again years down the line. If anything, the failure of this game for Xbox One is probably the scarecrow that'll keep major pubs from giving timed exclusive AAAs to MS in the future.
