| Sharpryno said: I know Trump supports personally and most are the racist "hick" types so that is not suprising. Its been super entertaining to watch him collapse. Doing it even bigger than that nutjob Ben Carson. These Republican candidates are an absolute joke. Make Mitt Romney look like the best candidate they've ever had.
OH well a market crash is going to happen sooner than later regardless of Sanders. Middle class is almost nonexistent today. Even less than it was before the Great Depression and the banks are bigger than they were in 2008. Sanders is simply expanding on the ideas of FDR which revived the middle class from the super wealthy back in the day. Such as making healthcare, education and time with a newborn possible. Such radical, crazy ideas bro! Capitalism without heavy regulation does not work. |
Its kinda of funny. FDR is only remembered for PART of what he did right -- and apparently thats giving away money.
Why do people forget that the money he gave away required effort to be spent to earn it. The new deal policies allowed for people to work (at a low wage) on national infrastructure. We built Dams, roads, bridges, national parks, government centers, etc. We did not give people money just for shits and giggles.
There are many reasons why the middle class has decreased in volume since the 1970's -- and it isn't simply deregulation or the greedy rich.
Back before the 1980's, families could often get by on a single parent income -- yes. But its not just stagnating wages.
Consumerism has exploded: people have 2 cars per household; they have 2-4 TVs per household; they are buying expensive annual/ bi-annual cell phones; they are buying fast food instead of eating groceries; etc. The standard of living of the poor has drastically risen over the last century, and everyone seems to forget this.
People always argue and shout about a "living wage", but never truly agree on what that should be. Why do the poor NEED cable (I'm middle class and i refuse to pay $60 a month for it)? Why do the poor NEED expensive phones? I will admit that internet is practically a necessity these days -- but thats a whole different argument (canada costs 1/3 for internet what the US does and still has high speeds).
Then you also have the rising student loan bubble. Liberals (such as Sanders) tend to argue that this wouldn't an issue if education was free, but this doesn't confront the issue that education creep is fucking our economy. We do NOT need people to have a bachelors degree in order to answer call center phones. So why should the tax payer (or only a select fee tax payers if sanders gets his way) have to pay for this education?
Why can we not agree that education creep needs to go away? Why not make trade school/ community colleges free, and make EVERYONE regardless of income take loans for the 2 years beyond that? If we do this -- it would push people into trades. Trades that mind you -- are unionized?
Or healthcare..... why is it that American socialism is so rediculous fucking stupid when it comes to economics it cannot realize the one fact in psychology: people take advantage of anything that is free? If you want to implement universal healthcare - fine. But maintain, and keep sliding scale co-pays. Its the WHOLE reason why HSA's are so overwhelmingly successful. People actually pay attention to healthcare costs and do not abuse the system.
Being partially involved in the hispanic community (i'm white, but my wife is hispanic) -- we know a significant number of illegal immigrants. Illegal immigrants do not normally qualify for medical assistance, but they qualify under "emergent conditions" (like pregnancy), and their citizen kids do. One such family we know took their baby to the emergency room for being constipated for a single day. As this is medical assistance -- they do not pay a thing, nor realize that they just cost the people that actually pay taxes $400+.
