Again, it was trending because Nintendo fans were sharing it, not the gaming mainstream. Look no further than Wii U's market share to see how much Nintendo's relevance to the mainstream has declined.

11 months out, we had seen more of Twilight Princess than we've seen now of Zelda U. And again, hype culture was not as important a part of the industry in 2006 or even in 2011 compared to today.

Except the Wii U's problems stem much more from it's handling then anything to do with it's games, this is such a flawed argument in itself that using it to try and highlight your argument is broken. MK, NSMB, 3DW, Smash and even a new IP in Splatoon they've all sold well and regardless of the Wii U's market share which highlights how little the latter has bearing on the standing of the software in it's library.

We've also seen the same amount of Zelda U as TP at this point, TP had two trailers and Zelda U has had a developer walkthrough and teasers, you don't seem to understand hype culture despite touting it do you. Zelda doesn't need a prolonged campaign for hype the name alone has it, one trailer at E3 and that's it, the 6 months until release are the most crucial time so why waste effort now when most of the hype can be generated then. Hype culture is about strategically released media not oversaturating people with media, this is why Bethesda didn't release anything about Fallout 4 until this year at E3, go figure.
