Now, that alternative income streams for youtubers, like patreon are cropping up, I very much doubt that that would prove successfull for any of the publishers or youtube.
People would likely migrate away from youtube because the one big plus (besides platform recognition) they have on youtube would fall by the wayside, They woud not be generating money over it anymore. No reason to use it really, if they can't generate money with it, they might a well use vimeo or something.
Depending on the size of their audience they will make much more revenue from alternative souces, and their fanbase is probably more than willing to throw money at them. Basically, if a channel is big enough to live off youtube, it will be big enough to live off patreon.
Streamers are about personalities more, than they are about the game they stream. Yes, there might be a relevant time windows, to stream certain games, but in general as long as the streamer is providing some kind of quality output, the audience won't really give a shit what they are playing anymore.
The big looser in scenario would obvoiusly be youtube itself. Publishers, while not making any money off it would probably still have enough games streamed (on other video providers and twitch) for them to work as advertisements, despite the bad press over their money grab move. But youtube would suffer.
