Well right now I'd put KI up there with SF.
I feel like KoF should be a more notable fighting series but its failed to stay interesting.
However, I agree the rest don't matter much to me. But I still have my fingers crossed for Virtua Fighter on X1 BC.

When KI first hit arcades, I was a fanatic! It was the perfect blend of Mortal Kombat gore, Street Fighter gameplay, and the best graphics anywhere. I played hundreds of hours on the SNES and N64. I was super excited for the Xbox One game and it is definitely quality but I just haven't had the patience to learn another fighting game. I bought everything for Season One and a few characters for Season Two but I haven't dedicated any time, yet.
Mostly because there was no six button controller. There's one now for Mortal Kombat that I want to buy but I don't know if I'll get hooked. Maybe if I can find one for $20, I'll give KI the time it deserves.

Well KI is great, I'd recommend spending more time with it. if you want to get your bearing with each character the single player objectives in Story Mode is great.
Also, I love how fast the game moves along. They don't spend much time looking at slow final attacks, win poses, round wait times, etc. The game moves fast and I'd like to see more fighting games do that. I've played more online matches of KI than SFIV. I say that as a fan of SFIV as well.

Killer instinct seems pretty good, but Im not into fighting games myself. I do like the fact characters in KI seems to play very differently from each other.
