I just think you guys are being assholes by rushing OP to play the likely worse version of a game that's aged like bad cheese.

And MISTER listen don't bother bringing my age or experience into question, I can be under 20 and have valid opinions on games older than myself if I play a lot on emulators and spend enough time on the internet.

Admittedly SIR I didn't beat this FF but from the ones that I did finish I can tell that the quality of these games is inflated cause people played them when they were baby children therefore the best course of action if you're playing them now is playing the best possible version, I mean let's put this "SE sucks" shit aside a version that's better looking, better sounding, has the same story and plays differently(though let's face it it's either ATB or the FFXV system) will probably be better than a PS1 game.

We are being assholes for suggesting that OP should play a game that we know? V.s. you telling him to wait 2-3+ years based on your guessing? And take it easy with the personal insults for no reason. I'm sure you can discuss things in a civil manner if you try.

There's nothing likely about the Remake being better because a remake doesn't automatically mean better. There are a lot of top 10 worst remakes lists you can check out for reference. And considering how many changes it probably will have, I think it may be more accurate to say 'different' than 'better' or 'worse'.
A graphical overhaul can dramatically change the atmosphere of a game. And that was one of FF7's strong points. For example, not being able to read the facial expressions of Cloud, and not knowing exactly what he was thinking and feeling all the time, that can do a lot for the atmosphere. Think of it like when you read a book and have to envision what's described to you. While on the other hand, constantly seeing that depressing emo look on Cloud's face that he always had in Advent Children will be quite different.
Music? Square remixed the music for FFX HD. And those things are hit or miss. So again, no guarantees that Remake will maintain the original atmosphere of the game. As for the battle system, that is one of the core elements of an RPG, and so that can potentially have a very negative impact on the game if it's not done in a good way.

As for you saying that you can have a valid opinion about gaining perspective of graphical changes over time by playing emulation, you also mention that the reason you think people appreciated the games before is because they played them back then. And that's what I mean when I say that you won't gain the same perspective by playing those games now. And no, people were not baby children when they played FF7. Most people, including myself, were teenagers when they played it. Partially because the game was rated T for Teen.
I've played through 5 console generations, and I'm on my 6th. Years from now when people say that the games you played during the recent console generations look so bad that they shouldn't be played, then you'll better understand what I'm talking about.
Not everyone is that obsessed with graphics. Though poorly aged raphics or poor graphics in general can indeed have a negative impct on a game. But I've played FF7, so I know very well what those would be. The picture I showed you above has not aged nearly as poor as you describe, so let's be honest here and not generalize. The game had four different graphical styles. Polygon models outside of battle, polygn battles inside of battle, pre-rendered backgrounds, and CGI cutscenes. There's a big difference between out of battle and in battle models.

I agree with everything you said but you in particular adress something I have concerns about - which is the tone of the remake. I think one of the biggest contributors to the woes of the JRPG in the 7th generation was that the slapsticky, non-serious, cheesy style of writing seen in almost every JRPG didn't translate well in high definition graphics and fully voiced casts. Your Barret example is perfect as I too cannot imagine Barrett ever doing that iconic hands in the air, side to side jump he used to always do. I wouldn't want them to do it either, it'd look stupid in HD graphics. That's the sad reality of trying to make JRPGs today. But there are things that I would want to stay in the game but I believe will not be in the game. Things like The Honeybee Inn and Don Corneo Mansion, the political correctness also of Cid and Shera scenes etc.. Do we really expect to see Cloud dress up as a woman in the FF7-Remake, which is one of the most iconic moments in the entire Final Fantasy series? I don't. If I had a gun to my head I would predict that they would not put that in the game. Why? Probably because its too Eastern a thing to have in a modern JRPG (even though I don't think it is) - and that's the sad mindset that's doing a lot of damage to this genre.

I want to this game to be a success because unlike the OP, a lot of people will never consider to play this game because it's too old because they have the mindset of this ednice dude. I have a friend for eg. who is a huge fan of FF10 and FF12, but feels like he missed the window to play FF7. If the remake can be a gateway for people like him, that's great. What will kill me though is if they take out all my favourite moments of the original game and dumb down it's systems and strip entire locations out of the game - and then my mate plays the game and says he didn't like it, and then says something like "how is this your favourite game?" lol.
